Shipping Motor Vehicles

 

If you are thinking of taking your car with you there are several ways we can ship it for you.

 

It can be shipped in a sole use container (one specifically for you and you alone or by a deep sea Roll on Roll Off service RO/RO (car ferry).

 

Shipping in a sole use container involves your car being secured within the container with strapping and straps to stop any movement during the transit.

 

Australia

 

Before you ship any motor vehicle or motor cycle the owner must obtain a "Vehicle Import Approval You will need to show 12 months of consecutive use and ownership for your vehicle.

 

You will also need a permit for any vehicle that is over 15 years old however the ownership length of time does not apply.

Please note regulations may differ for temporary Imports and vehicles, which have already been exported from Australia.

 

The Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) will inspect your vehicle upon arrival in Australia.

 

Please make sure you have read the above and understand the implications of shipping your vehicle to this destination.

 

It is YOUR responsibility to make sure that the vehicle complied fully with the regulations, and we must be in possession of the authority to ship from the Australian government before we ship the vehicle out.

 

New Zealand

 

Motor vehicles and motor cycles can be shipped from the UK to the following ports by either a sole use container service or the Roll On Roll Off (RORO) car ferry service.

  • Auckland
  • Christchurch (note: no RORO service)
  • Wellington (note: no RORO service)

Before we will ship your vehicle the owner must obtain a "Statement of Compliance".

 

For motor cycles manufactured before 1st October 2002, this Statement does not need to be obtained, however proof of ownership will need to be provided.

 

The “Statement of Compliance” is obtained from the manufacturer of the vehicle.

 

The estimated cost for this statement is between NZD500.00 and NZD750.00.

 

Please note regulations may differ for temporary Imports and vehicles, which have already been exported from New Zealand.

 

As always we ask that you check with the New Zealand customs department if you have any queries regarding customs duty and charges.

 

It is YOUR responsibility to make sure that the vehicle complies fully with the regulations and meets the standards that apply, and that all applicable documents are presented to the authorities in New Zealand.
